call for performers

We particularly welcome approaches from performers who identify as disabled or who come from groups under-represented in British theatre.

We expect that at least one performer will be a BSL user.

Workshops, spring 2019

Two Destination Language is looking for three female or non-binary performers to participate in each of two week-long devising workshops. These are part of the creation of a new stage work for 2020.

This spring, we're working at Theatre in the Mill Bradford (w/c 25 Feb) and ARC Stockton (w/c 6 May) to explore ideas around belonging and difference. We'll take as starting points our own experiences of being othered, and the ways in which we present ourselves to the world.

Work will include text, movement and play with costume and everyday items as we develop ideas towards our stage work.

Performers should be:

  • experienced in creation processes that are not text-led, from any performance disciplines
  • interested in sharing and exploring their personal experiences
  • comfortable with physical process which will highlight the limits of their own abilities
  • available for either of our workshop weeks

This opportunity is paid at a fixed fee of £458 (including VAT where applicable) for each workshop week. Participants are expected to have a base in or close to Bradford or Stockton-on-Tees.

We anticipate that participants may be invited to join the full production which will take place at the end of 2019 and beginning of 2020.

To apply, please complete the form below, which requires you to make a short video. If access needs mean another method of application is better for you, please email to make sure your proposed method includes all the information we need.

Deadline for applications: this opportunity is now closed.
